The cash-only policy catches some guests off guard, as not everyone is prepared for this minor inconvenience. A few have noted a desire for extended opening hours, especially on weekends, reflecting the high demand for their delicious offerings. Additionally, some patrons mention that when busy, service may be slower than average, but this often comes with the territory of freshly prepared food. A couple of customers have experienced occasional disappointments, but these are typically outweighed by the many positive reviews and experiences shared by the majority.
Decided to try this place tonight as we had such a terrible experience of Anstey Chippy. It was easy to find, well presented and had traditional style. Prices were better than the other fish bar in the village as well. The most important bit is the food though. The chips were cooked in nice fresh oil, the batter was crisp and the fish was tasty. We had cod and chips and it was delicious. Will come back soon.
I really enjoy coming here, my partner eats Gluten Free and it's made so easy when everything is cooked fresh and there's great communication from friendly and inviting staff. The food is great, the prices are fair, the portion sizes are good and they only accept Cash. Which is no problem at all for us. We couldn't really recommend more, especially if you're local and are able to come semi-regularly😊
Best chip around! Just a shame they aren't open more often but understandable 😊 love how fresh the food is and the batter is just incredible not your usual chip shop batter!
I had the fish and chips and the curry and sure wasn’t disappointed!! Nice fish with lovely batter, chips and good as they get and the curry sauce was fantastic. Everything was tasty. Wrapped in newspaper just like the old days. The service was great and served very quickly . I would definitely recommend. 10/10. .
Recently moved to Anstey and thought we'd try out the chip shops in the village. Wow! Delicious! The curry sauce is the best I can ever remember having too. Reasonably priced, friendly service. Definitely our new favourite chippy. Just one thing to note, it's cash only so bear that in mind before you go
Best chip shop in Leicestershire! The whole menu is delicious, we love the food and the.service is second to none! Owners are fantastic and we love the traditional vibe of the shop. Now we have found this gem, we will not go anywhere else for our chips! Keep up the good work. 👍
